5.0 out of 5 stars Great All Around Grill Comparable to the Best, January 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Weber 3742001 Genesis E-310 Propane Grill, Copper (Lawn & Patio)
Summary -- a great grill with even cooking across the grill, gets hot (over 600 deg F), with a bit of clunky charm and plenty of accessories.

OK -- I've had a very expensive grill (>$2k) for the past 5 years, and traded it for furniture when I moved. After researching grills, the great unwashed mass and periodicals indicated that Weber Grills had even temperatures across the grill. That was important because my former grill was hot, hot, hot but very uneven in temps across the grill. My only concern with the Weber was, "Is it hot enough?"

Quick Answer -- yes -- it climbed to 550 F fairly quickly and was still climbing. That was important because I want to grill Pizza.

Assembly - I hope you have your own hex set because the one supplied takes time. An auto screwdriver is a helpful addition. This is a 2 person bonding experience for assembly, at least for me, as I'm easily bored. The directions (pictures) are not bad but doesn't anyone write a... Read more

This review is from: Weber 3742001 Genesis E-310 Propane Grill, Copper (Lawn & Patio)
I bought the Weber Genesis E-310 Copper grill to replace a number of cheap box store grills I've had over the years. The last box store grill I had lasted 4 years of frequent use, and the bottom (complete with burners) dropped out on my patio a few weeks ago completely rusted through. I had a charcoal grill in storage and I broke it out and used it for a few weeks, but it soon became apparent that I had to get a new gas grill. After much research I settled on the Weber.

The reasons I settled on this grill are as follows:
1. The firebox is cast , not thin sheet metal. This should be the first thing you look at on any new grill. Look at the material the firebox is made of, this most likely will determine the life of the grill.
2. Stainless steel burners. Made to last, and Weber stocks replacement parts. If you can't find replacement parts for the newest grills at the big box stores, do you think you'll be able to find them in a year or two after they come out... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent gril, April 27, 2010

This review is from: Weber 3742001 Genesis E-310 Propane Grill, Copper (Lawn & Patio)
I was looking around for a new grill and decided to check consumer reports. According to CR's rating, this is the best grill on the market in its' price range. I also looked at other reviews and found that everyone that purchased this grill loved it. I am now one of those folks. Putting the grill together took about two hours. the instructions are 98% pics, which wasn't ideal (some verbiage to go along with the pics would have made assembly a lot easier). Once I started cooking on the grill I immediately saw the difference between this grill and less expensive grills. This grill is top of the line. Flare ups are virtually non existent. It is extremely easy to light and cooks evenly...you'd almost have to try to actually burn something. On previous grills the outside of the meat would be almost burned (due to flare ups) while the inside was still raw...not with this grill. I seasoned the grates with vegetable oil and baking in the oven for a total of 60 min (350 for 30 min,... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy a Weber, Buy a Weber, Buy a Weber, May 21, 2007
This review is from: Weber 1710001 Summit S-420 Propane Gas Grill, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
I bought this grill for my recent let's say, milestone, birthday. I researched grills for over 2 months. I knew Weber was a good brand but wished to consider other options. My research always pointed back to "buy a Weber". Weber's customer service was always rated A-1, they've been bbq/grilling experts for years, and you know they'll be around in the future. The one kicker for the Summit S-420 model over a stainless Weber Genesis S-320 was a comment from a friend of mine with a nice stainless Jenn-Air model found at Lowes. He wished the rotisserie was positioned higher on the Jenn-Air. In my assessment of grills, I had never considered the importance of the rotisserie height. After looking at the Genesis S-320 and Jenn-Air models again, it became clear that a turkey or large roast might not work on the rotisserie of the other models. The Summit S-420 and other Summit grills solves this problem by providing a much higher rotisserie position. Add to that a much taller cover,... Read more

This review is from: Weber 1710001 Summit S-420 Propane Gas Grill, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
In October of 2007 we upgraded to the Summit 420 and gave my old Weber to my daughter. I'm just now writing a review of our new grill because I wanted to know what I was talking about. First I have to say, the old Weber (a Genesis purchased in 1987) was in top shape having only replaced the grills and flavor bars. Second I have to say, my new grill makes grilling far more relaxing regardless of what we grill. From catfish to the finest fillets, it provides the most consistent great texture and taste. The ability to adjust four different burners from side to side without moving the food is the magic in this grill. The grill is a perfect size for my wife and I, or up to 10 people. Chicken wings are the all time favorite in our family and on this grill I can brown the outside of the wing, fully cook, and then crisp them before taking off (not one burnt spot), without opening the grill but one time. You can cook brisket at 200 degrees, grill shrimp and veggies at 300, bake catfish at 400,... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money, June 8, 2009

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Weber 1710001 Summit S-420 Propane Gas Grill, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
All reviewers said you can't go wrong with a Weber. And after comparing the Weber S420 with all the other gas grills (all of which looked good) there was an obvious difference in quality in favor of the Weber. My previous gas grill produced inconsistent results and resulted in many ruined meals. Yes, the Weber is expensive compared to others that I considered, but it is absolutely worth the extra cash. Every meal cooked on it has been excellent. Very even, controllable heat and a pleasure to use. The construction is top rate and with reasonable care, it should last for many years. Some have complained about water collecting in the grease pan during a rain and making a greasy mess. Well, duh. After the meal simply remove the grease pan and clean it. Very easy to do and when it does rain only water to blot up. As for the premium cover, I am pleased with the quality, the fit and the protection it gives the grill.
So, to sum up, you can't go wrong with this grill. Bite the bullet,... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Firebox, September 18, 2011

This review is from: Broil King 94927 Crown 20 Natural Gas Grill, Stainless Steel/Black (Lawn & Patio)
I have had the Broil King Crown 20 NG Grill for about a month now and have used it frequently. When the grill arrived it was packed in a fairly flimsy box, so much so that one side panel had been dented; not a huge deal, but they could certainly improve their packaging a great deal, as the box was also partially open from shipping. It took 2 of us about 2.5 hours to assemble the unit. There are NO written instructions, only pictographs and one must try to decipher from among about 3 models for which the directions have been drawn. Once assembled, the quick connect did NOT fit our outdoor gas outlet. There is nothing in the information given to tell the customer the size of the quick connect. We had to step down from 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch and could not find the proper connections at either of 2 local large supply houses. We finally had to pay a plumber to rig the set-up. The cost of this grill is a bit steep for what one receives. We were trying to avoid buying China-made goods and... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Shipping a real problem on this produce, July 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Broil King 94927 Crown 20 Natural Gas Grill, Stainless Steel/Black (Lawn & Patio)
Although we received this produce promptly, when we unpackaged it and began to put it together, we found 6 broken parts. We tried to get Broil King to send the parts but they wanted us to pay for parts and postage. After discussing the problem with Amazon.com (had to call our credit card company to get their phone number) they e-mailed us a return label and we had to unassemble, rebox and return the grill. A frustrating experience. We're now looking for a natural gas grill that comes assembled so we can see what we're getting. P.S. This was a free shipping item, so Amazon.com ended up paying approximately $70.00 each way for this transaction!!! A total loss all the way around.
